ArtsFest 2025: Live Music, Local Talent & Laughter on Jams 'N' Cocktails

Writer: Jams 'N' CocktailsJams 'N' Cocktails

The Jams 'N' Cocktails podcast never disappoints when it comes to blending live music, local events, and pure entertainment. This week, host Brad Brock and the JNC crew—Jordyn, Derek, and Elly—delivered an episode packed with festival excitement, live performances, and a brand-new, wildly hilarious game.

At the heart of this episode was ArtsFest 2025, happening February 8-9 in downtown Stuart, Florida. This annual celebration, hosted by Martin Arts, is a staple for local artists, musicians, and food lovers. To give listeners a firsthand look at what to expect, Brad and the crew welcomed a special guest: singer-songwriter Mike Faurot, who will be performing at this year’s festival. Not only did Mike share insights about his upcoming set, but he also graced the JNC Lounge with some fantastic live music.

But this episode wasn’t just about showcasing talent—it was also about pushing the limits of taste buds in the latest game, Lick the Lollipop or Smell the Soap. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like! More on that later…

🎨 ArtsFest 2025: What to Expect

Brad and the crew kicked off the show with a deep dive into ArtsFest 2025, an event that has been supporting and celebrating the arts in Martin County since 1980. With a lineup of award-winning artists, live entertainment, interactive exhibits, and mouthwatering food, this year’s festival promises to be one for the books.

Some of the standout attractions include:

  • 🎭 Live Performances – Featuring local musicians, including the JNC crew emceeing the entire weekend

  • 🖌 Centennial Murals Project – Artists painting live to envision Martin County’s future 100 years from now

  • 🍽 Stuart Chopped – A thrilling cooking competition, where chefs battle it out using mystery ingredients

  • 🐢 Hidden Turtle Scavenger Hunt – Festival-goers can search for glass sea turtles, with golden turtles leading to special prizes

With $5 admission (free for kids 18 and under), there’s no reason to miss this two-day cultural celebration.

🎶 Live Music & Mike Faurot’s Festival Journey

This episode’s special guest, Mike Faurot, is no stranger to ArtsFest. In fact, this year marks his third consecutive performance at the festival. Mike reminisced about his very first ArtsFest experience, which began as a last-minute call to fill in for a sick musician. That gig led to new opportunities, friendships, and a growing presence in the local music scene.

But ArtsFest isn’t just about the past—it’s also about what’s to come. Mike shared his exciting performance schedule and even hinted at new music on the horizon. Before leaving the JNC Lounge stage, he treated listeners to a soulful live set, showcasing his signature mix of folk, blues, and country influences.

🥃 Shot of the Week: The Mexican Candy Shot

No JNC episode is complete without the Shot of the Week! This time, the crew mixed up a Mexican Candy Shot, a sweet and spicy tequila-based shooter inspired by Mexican candies that balance heat with fruitiness.

🔹 Ingredients:

  • 1 oz tequila

  • ½ oz watermelon schnapps

  • ½ oz lime juice

  • A dash of hot sauce

  • Tajín or chili powder for rimming the glass

🔹 How to Make It:

  1. Rim a shot glass with Tajín.

  2. Shake tequila, watermelon schnapps, lime juice, and hot sauce with ice.

  3. Strain into the shot glass and enjoy the sweet-heat experience!

Brad and the crew took their shots, and while most enjoyed the spicy kick, Derek was less than thrilled with the hot sauce.

😂 The Game That Had Everyone in Tears: Lick the Lollipop or Smell the Soap

If listeners thought this episode would be all serious ArtsFest talk, they were in for a surprise. The JNC crew debuted a brand-new game that was equal parts concentration, chaos, and questionable decision-making.

The rules were simple: each contestant held a lollipop in one hand and a bar of soap in the other. Jordyn called out instructions—either “Lick the Lollipop” or “Smell the Soap”—at a gradually increasing speed. The real challenge? Keeping up without accidentally licking the soap.

Mike Faurot was the first brave soul to take on the challenge, managing to survive most of the round—until he inevitably fell victim to a soapy surprise. Brad, Derek, and Jordyn all took turns as well, with Derek hilariously making it through nearly unscathed.

Mike, on the other hand, bit off a little more than he could chew—literally! By the end, his teeth were coated in Irish Spring, and the lingering aftertaste became an unforgettable part of the night.

Could this be the wildest game ever played in the JNC Lounge? Quite possibly. Will it return at ArtsFest for unsuspecting festival-goers to try? Stay tuned!

🏆 Name That Tune: 2025 Grammy Winners Edition

Music fans got an extra treat in this episode as the crew played a special edition of Name That Tune, featuring 2025 Grammy winners. Songs from artists like The Beatles, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar made the game both fun and unpredictable.

Notably, Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” stirred up some controversy, as it marked her historic win for Best Country Album. Whether fans agree or not, Queen Bey is officially part of country music history.

🎤 Final Thoughts & Where to Find Mike Faurot

As the episode wrapped up, Brad reminded everyone to join them at ArtsFest 2025 and come see Mike Faurot perform live on Saturday, February 8, from 2:30 to 3:30 PM. With a weekend full of art, music, and entertainment, it’s bound to be an unforgettable event.
